MHS teams win Daniel K Inouye Innovation Award
On August 29th, three
students were invited to attend the MEDB Ka Alahele Education Fund Dinner on
Maui for the Daniel K Inouye Innovation Award. The award is presented to the
student team that demonstrates the most innovative use of STEM to serve and
improve the community. Alumni Sarah Jenkins and junior Lily Jenkins returned
with 1st place for their project, each winning $2,000 for their
education and $2000 grant for the Nene O Molokai Foundation. Alumni Momi
Afelin, and seniors Kea’a Davis and Alexandria Simon won the second award, each
bringing home $1,000. Both projects together won a total of $7,000 for
technology upgrades to benefit Molokai High School. These two outstanding teams
stood out amongst applications from all over Maui County. Congratulations to these teams!
