Robotics takes 2nd in States

Congratulations
Molokai High School Robotics takes 2nd at State Championship

The Molokai High School Robotics Team competed at the 2019 Hawaii State VEX Robotics Championship on January 12, 2019. The daylong tournament consisted of the top 36 VEX Robotics teams in Hawaii.
The team overcame a rough start in the qualification rounds to make a comeback towards the end of the tournament, with both Teams 1037A and 1037B advancing to the knockout bracket.
Team 1037B and their alliance partners Team 2437B from Sacred Hearts Academy as the 16th seed upset the number 1 seeded alliance in the Round of 16 knockouts 21 points to 18, advancing to the quarterfinals where their run ended.
Team 1037A along with their alliance partners Team 4270B from St Louis School also advanced to the quarterfinals winning 16 points to 15, and then semifinals, winning 16 points to 8. In the final, Team 1037A lost a hard fought battle to the eventual Tournament Champions, finishing as Tournament Finalists.
In the Robot Skills part of the tournament (one robot scoring as much as they can), Team 1037B also placed 2nd in the State with a score of 34 points – just 3 points shy of the highest score.
Molokai High School Robotics as a whole also won the Energy Award, which was awarded to the team who showcased a high level of professionalism at the event.
We would like to thank and recognize our sponsors DOW AgroSciences, Monsanto Hawaii, Molokai Island Foundation, Maui Economic Development Board, Kamehameha Schools, and all of our other sponsors for their support of our growing robotics program at Molokai High.
